Pairing: James Sirius Potter x Anastasiya Cornett-Volkov

Numbers: [1-20] | 21-40 | 41-60 | 61-80 | 81-100

Synopsis: A series of drabbles for a specified pairing.
Alt. Synopsis: In which Chrissy tried to reach the 100 Drabble goal. Maybe one day she'll decide to come back and write an actual oneshot on one of these drabbles when she's not freaking lazy.

Note: The drabbles mainly implies romance (some of them does say if they're dating). Sorry if I butchered your interpretation of James, Rose... and James, watch your back because Ko's got a chance with Anastasiya--//shot

Warnings: Mostly unedited. Contains fluff or pain... fluff for the most part, but I honestly would like more pain *bricked*

1. Favourite Colours

Anastasiya liked a lot of colors for a lot of reasons. She loved the color white, it reminded her of the puffy clouds she used to watch as a four year old or a simple blank canvas prepared to be painted on. Another color she liked was black, like the black wolf necklace the Volkov women all donned on whether they adopted the Volkov surname or kept their own (if they weren't already a Volkov), the necklace was rather pretty, she thought. She also liked purple and blue, the way they mixed together so easily like paint as the sun slowly went down, dyed with a hint of orange.

Red and blue were by far her favourite colours if she had to choose. She loved red, red reminded her of Gryffindor, the colors he wore for his Quidditch team and was part of his pride, she believed; he was a redhead, wasn't he?

And blue, blue was by far her favourite colours. She'd look in the mirror and think that her eyes were a nice shade of blue and that was probably the only thing she liked about herself. Blue reminded her of the vast sky she would look up at when she watched the clouds back then, and most importantly, blue reminded her of the eyes that she tried and tried not to look into...

...because she couldn't help but think that his blue eyes were a beautiful distraction.

2. Modern Cinderella

A modern tale of Cinderella, long story short: it was about a girl with unfortunate circumstances, and manages to win the heart of her prince before she leaves at midnight. Her prince tries to find her with only her shoe as a hint to her identity and he finds her, then everyone lived happily ever after.

As cheesy and cliche as it was, she had to admit that the situation reminded her of that fairy tale (Katarina bought five books for her that were all muggle fairy tales). She went to the Yule Ball and danced with him, and it was all so wonderful. He was different than others, from her observations that night, and it brought out a somewhat bold side of herself that she never knew. After they danced, they talked for a few moments before she had to go...

...but if she had to say the differences between her and Cinderella, then it was simple. Anastasiya was no princess that needed to be found, rather, she was the one who needed to find him.

3. Potential Suitors

"I thought you were interested in him?" Her older cousin by one year, Katja, had questioned. "We're talking about the same James Potter, son of Harry Potter and Ginevra Weasley? I'm sure if you told Miss Volkov she would understand and cancel the marriage since he's your boyfriend isn't he?"

"No, he isn't..." Anastasiya frowned.

"James Sirius Potter?" Katja's younger twin brother, Nikolai, asked curiously as he casually joined the conversation. "I recall seeing his name on that long list of suitors for you, but his parents weren't interested in arranged marriages and not to mention that the oldies said he was a half-blood which was no good. Although I don't get why you're both called half-bloods when you only have a quarter of muggle blood and-"

Katja interrupted. "-see? If you say that you're 'courting each other' than they'd get you outta this arranged marriage!" she said, rolling her eyes at the mention of courting someone. Who ever said that phrase nowadays, anyway?

"No," Anastasiya said, frowning. "I don't want to get him involved in this situation. Our freedom would be restricted..." she trailed off, grimacing. "I don't even want him to know about this wedding..."

Nikolai murmured quietly, rubbing the back of his neck sheepishly. "...Geez... I wish you told me that earlier before I sent the wedding invitations..."

4. Asthma Attacks

He knew she had asthma, but he never knew how bad it could get. How harsh she was wheezing, struggling to slow her breathing as he quickly ran into her room of her apartment and to the small bedside table. Quickly grabbing her inhaler, he ran back out, hurrying as he gave her the inhaler.

It was horrible, watching the frightened expression on her face as she tried to calm down. She was on the verge of tears when she got her inhaler and thankfully, everything was okay again as she hugged him.

"It's alright..." she said, smiling through her tears as they slowly dried.

5. Penpals

His Russian penpal finally had her webcam all setup (thanks to her cousin, the girl claimed that she was hopeless when it came to technology), and after years of being penpals, they can finally talk to each other. It first began during the student exchange program and he found a book with an email written in it. That was how he first contacted his Russian penpal, Anastasiya. That was her last month at the school though, since she was back at Russia at the time he found it.

He redirected his attention back to the computer screen and waited until her webcam turned on.

What he didn't expect to see was an embarrassed angel.

6. Too Late

"Hey Ana," James greeted, stopping when the blonde turned around. "I was wondering if you were free on Sunday?" he asked. He thought about bringing her around Hogsmeade, since she mentioned something about needing to buy books the other day.

"Oh... I'm sorry James... but Kohaku already asked me if I could go to Hogsmeade with her on Sunday..."

7. Glow

She knew her blindness was a curse as the days progressed and her 17th birthday neared. Her head would throb at least once per hour and she swore that the black shadowy haze that obstructed her view would move ever so slightly so that she'd see blotches of colours.

Her sight was one of the reasons why she hated her birthday. Though the coloured glows in always reminded her of the colors that she had nearly forgotten of. Her sight wasn't a black haze, when she was calm enough to notice details, rather than black the colors would change to a black red or blue or any other color, really. Regardless, she was still blind for the most part.

Something made her wonder, though. Why was she always seeing a shade of dark pink when she was with James?

8. Accents

Sighing, Anastasiya thought about her thick accent. French didn't sound too beautiful to her, and her Russian just seemed too thick for her liking. She always did like listening to accents, though she never said it. Although perhaps it was fairly obvious that she liked to listen to James' voice. The way he spoke just seemed to make her heart thump more than it should be.

9. Exhaustion

She let out a tired sigh as she trudged towards her apartment door. For a moment, she pauses as she noticed a difference: the place where the emergency key was had moved. Did James stop by to visit? He was one of the few who knew about where she hid the backup key...

Anastasiya takes her key out from her purse and enters her apartment. After locking the door, she took her coat off and walked over to her room. The door was open, and she smiled slightly as she stopped, observing the figure laying in her bed asleep. There were rare occasions when he ended up crashing over at her place, and by the time she gets home, she'd find him and just let him sleep. She was too tired to do much about it anyway.

After doing her evening rituals (brush teeth, change into pajamas, etc.), she slipped under the blanket and laid beside James in her bed, startled when his arms wrapped around her. The blonde gave him a pout as he chuckled though she shifted, finding a comfortable position to sleep in. Soon after, they both fell asleep together, cuddling.

10. Injuries

Anastasiya stretched as she got up, contemplating on what she should make for dinner until there was a knock on the door. The knock startled her as she stared at it for a moment, not expecting anyone to be over for dinner. Quickly, she stood on her tiptoes to look through the peephole and grew pale, quickly opening the door. James was a Quidditch player, she was invited to go watch him play but she was busy earlier in the day so she had to miss out.

She was absolutely appalled at his physical state. He had some injuries here and there, and he almost looked as if he were beaten up. The short blonde pushed him into her apartment, heading to the bathroom to run a bath. While they didn't live together, James did unexpectedly pop up at her apartment time to time so there were some spare clothes for him if he wanted a shower (washing his clothes was a bit awkward at first she had to admit).

"Go take a quick shower and try to wash all that dirt off, I'll treat your injuries when you're done," she said, frowning as she ushered him into her bathroom. After she successfully managed to do so, she went over to her room and grabbed the first aid kit before heading back out into the living room.

He was finished with his short shower and sat down on the couch as Anastasiya remained frowning. "I'm alright," he reassures her. Momentarily she looked up at him, skeptical. "Really, I'm fine, all I did was hit the ground once, and came out perfectly fine," he insisted.

"You should've been treated by the Mediwizard," she said, letting out a small sigh. "Really, you scared me when I saw you..."

"Sorry," he murmured, giving her a quick kiss before allowing her to fix the rest of his minor injuries. She smiled lightly. Well, it should be fine since he was in an okay condition at least... she just hoped that this wouldn't happen again.

11. Hangovers

Her head was throbbing and she couldn't think straight, all she knew was that she felt sluggish and that her head pounded like it used to when it was around the time of her birthday. It was just that bad for her. As her disorientated state of mind wandered as she noticed that she wasn't in her apartment, she quickly got up. She shouldn't have down that, she thought when her headache made her wince.

Looking around, she noticed that the room seemed oddly familiar to her. She could also tell that someone was in the kitchen as she slowly got up, noticing James' shirt. All she recalled was getting tipsy, drinking while trying to ignore how much the girls were flirting with James even when she was right there. For a moment, she paused, remembering the way she acted at the party last night... dear lord she practically flirted with everyone after that second drink. She even flirted with Kohaku and the younger girl just went along with it until James got annoyed with her drunken state and easily persuaded her that they should leave early.

Growing flustered and embarrassed, she crawled back into James' bed and hid underneath the blankets. Whatever she said last night probably wouldn't be forgotten... for a long time.

12. Languages

What was he even doing in Russia? He didn't even understand the language!

James grumbled, walking aimlessly through the crowd until he bumped into a short woman. "Sorry-" he said when she apologized in Russian.

"Oh... you speak English," she said, blinking. "Ah, sorry about bumping into you. I should've watched where I was going..."

"No no, I should've paid more attention," he said. "If you don't mind me asking, you wouldn't happen to know where this place was... would you?" he asked, showing her a piece of paper scribbled in English.

Her eyebrows knitted together when she translated it from English to Russian. "Oh!" she said, looking up at the taller man. "I was on my way there too, actually, just follow me," she smiled at him as he nodded. He felt a bit grateful for not knowing Russian...

13. Longer Strides

When he walked it was always in long strides it would seem to her. Anastasiya would have to walk faster than usual to keep up with him. There were some moments, however, that he'd notice. He would simply slow down for her, even though it felt weird walking slowly as he was now, but for her, he'd be fine with taking his time. Although she wasn't blind anymore, he chuckled and would hold her hand, and it'd feel like the most natural thing despite being them being 'friends'.

14. [College AU] Struggling

James let out a sigh as he leaned back into the chair. He managed to turn in some of his assignments, all that was left was this one paper that was due the next day. If he wanted to pass this semester's term, he would have to pull an all-nighter to finish. The only problem was that he was already exhausted and was already on the verge of falling asleep. His phone vibrated and showed the message to be from his girlfriend, Anastasiya, who he preferred to call Ana.

Are you still awake? :)

Yeah, I haven't finished that paper yet.

There wasn't a reply, instead, someone knocked on his door, causing him to wonder who on earth it could be. Was it Anastasiya? As he got up and opened the door, it was, in fact, his girlfriend. He was about to ask her what she was doing here until he saw the coffee in her hand. The coffee was from a nearby coffee shop where they had first met since that was where Anastasiya worked part-time.

"You didn't have to," he smiled, taking the coffee as he hugged her and kissed her forehead.

"Of course I did," Anastasiya smiled. "Are you still having problems with that paper?"

"A little bit, but I'll manage," James grumbled.

Anastasiya tiptoed, giving him a kiss on the cheek before whispering something into his ear. James blinked, baffled at the suggestion.

"Just to give you a little incentive if you finish your paper," she gave a small giggle before leaving to her dorm room a few doors down.

James observed her as she left before he closed the door. Quickly, he went back to his computer to finish his paper.

15. House Compatibility

"Are a hufflepuff and a slytherin really a good match...?" Anastasiya pondered her disbelief out loud, startling Katarina and Ashton by the sudden topic.

"No," Ashton flat out denied. "That's crazy talk."

"Ignoring your 'father'," Katarina joked halfheartedly before raising an eyebrow. "Not necessarily. My mom was a Hufflepuff and my dad was a... Slytherin... hmm... never mind for me, I have no clue. Although the orphanage owner was a Hufflepuff and her husband's a Gryffindor. What about your parents?"

"My mother was a Ravenclaw and my father was a Hufflepuff, I believe..." Anastasiya trailed off.

"Really? My father was a Ravenclaw, my mother was a Slytherin, and my stepmother was a Hufflepuff," Ashton murmured.

"Hmm, well, Wyatt's a Slytherin and his girlfriend, Alisa, is a Hufflepuff. I think it's possible that Slytherin and Hufflepuff both get along better... probably."

"I think Ravenclaws and Hufflepuffs get along better," Ashton stated.

"Really? From what I've seen, Slytherins and Hufflepuffs get along better," Katarina gave a nod.

"Hey Ana," James greeted as Katarina and Ashton started their own mini-debate over Slytherins or Ravenclaws. "What's wrong with your two friends?"

"...that's probably my fault," Anastasiya gave a sheepish smile. "I asked them if a Slytherin and a Hufflepuff are a good match... and then, well, yeah..."

"Hmm? Well, I'd say Gryffindors and Hufflepuffs would get along, don't you think?" Wrapping an arm around her shoulder, he grinned.

"We didn't ask you!" Katarina huffed as Ashton glared at James.

16. Humming

Anastasiya frowned with worry as she walked to his room. The door was slightly cracked open so she spared a glance inside. She walks over to his bed, frowning until she sees him sleeping. The temptation to laugh at his mess of a hair was there but she didn't take it, especially because she didn't want him to wake up.

After lightly touching his arm forehead, it felt as though his fever had died down... thank goodness. Humming lightly, she decided to leave him alone for a bit. Before she walked towards the door, she gave him a small kiss on the forehead and resumed her humming until she heard a cough.

"Wait," he murmured. "Your humming was nice..."

17. Goodbye

There was a sense of dread that hung in the air as they stared at each other, sitting across from one another. It was obvious that he didn't want to be the one to say it, and the same went for her. It didn't feel right... it felt wrong, all wrong. Anastasiya frowned as she took a shaky breath.

Her words sounded odd to her as she spoke, as if she never imagined that she would ever say such a thing... and no matter how much her heart felt like shattering, it had to be said. She tried to hold back her incoming tears, but it was obvious to the both of them that she had to be the one to say it, that this had to happen eventually despite their evident feelings of affections.

They weren't dating, it should've been easier on her... but she was basically telling him to stop caring about her.

"James... let's... stop this... let's stop everything..."

18. Admirers

Anastasiya was aware of all of James' admirers. She'd notice the way they'd glare at her or shamelessly flirt with James in front of her. It didn't matter, though it did hurt a little with how they'd flirt with him. Sometimes she almost felt envious... almost. The hufflepuff was engaged and not many people knew, and she'd like to keep it that way.

Most of the time, she would try to ignore them. To her, James was a close friend that wouldn't like her at all and she particularly clung onto that idea in fear that one day it would be her demise. Occasionally, she'd hear their whispers in the halls, hushing when she walked by. It was obvious, all of it was and she honestly didn't care. As she took a book out from her bag, a letter fell out, much to her surprise.

"Who's that from?" James asked curiously, looking over her shoulder and reading the little note before Anastasiya flinched and hid the letter. "...?" Well that was new, she never did that before.

"...I have a secret admirer and it sounds like they're in ravenclaw..." she murmured, embarrassed.

19. Jealousy

"Stay away from her," the fifth year seemed to demand.

"Okay... who are you talking about and why should I?" he raised a brow. It wasn't everyday that a fifth year ravenclaw with a feminine voice would be ordering him around.

"It's obvious that I'm talking about Anastasiya. I want you to stay away from her, especially if you're not serious about your friendship or potentially beyond that point," the ravenclaw assumed, narrowing her eyes. "I'll be honest, I don't trust you the most out of all the people I don't trust, and that's saying something since I said I didn't trust Wyatt most of all until he got a girlfriend, but that's a different situation. Long story short: I don't trust you with the girl I love even when she tries to reassure me that you're a decent guy."

20. Unspoken

He was staring thoughtfully up at the sky filled with stars. The question plagued his mind as if a broken record and really, the question was simple. What should he do? He knew what would happen, the likely result of their relationship if he asked her. For heaven's sake, they already talked about something like this before.

James stopped in front of her apartment, giving a swift knock on the wooden door. Soon, the short blonde opened the door, expecting him as she smiled sweetly at him. It was a simple walk to the neighborhood park nearby her apartment. It was odd, and Anastasiya grew worried though she said nothing. He gave her hand a small squeeze as they sat down on the bench. He didn't say anything and all Anastasiya could do was feel worried despite observing the way the stars glittered the night sky.

"Remember that conversation we had the other day?" he asked her as she nodded, feeling confused.

He didn't need to say anything as he took the small blue velvet box he had in his pocket, opening it to reveal a simple ring. A moment passed by and everything grew tense for him as she stared at the ring, then up at him with a bright smile and tears at the corner of her eyes. She hugged him, and all of his worries seemed to melt away. His girlfriend, now fiancee, said yes.
