Dramatic / Seemingly Fake / "Not Serious" - When it comes to expressing herself, Katrina feels inclined to place an emphasis on her words and actions at times. For many who're perceptive, Katrina may appear to be "fake" or may seem like an "open book" in terms of her actions. This may be difficult for others to take her seriously, as many tend to expect her to be cheerful almost all the time as well as enthusiastic about everything, and often times they might be under the impression that she is always joking around.

Oblivious / Easily Confused / Sometimes Clueless / Gullible - English isn't entirely her first language (it's considered her second in all honesty, but it's actually her third language after Italian and Croatian), thus, she may at times be confused in some conversations. (Aren't language barriers just absolutely wonderful?) Katrina will most likely not understand any puns unless it involves cats (i.e. Scaredy Kat). She's likely to fall for lies especially due to being dense.

Confident / Independent / Somewhat Stubborn / Surprisingly Mature - Katrina grew up in an orphanage with the memory of her mother and the partial memory of her father, thus, despite her childish personality in holding onto the past, she became somewhat more mature than some children at her orphanage. Being one of the older children at said orphanage, she was expected to go grocery shopping on her own, handling household chores such as cooking and cleaning on a daily basis, as well as nursing sick children back to health whenever a child caught a cold. While she's a wonderful older sister figure for many of the children at this orphanage, she can be very insecure and unsure of herself because of how Naida, Katrina's biological little sister, seems to hate her. However, as time goes on she's grown to be a bit more confident yet hesitant at times.

Courageous yet Easily Frightened - When facing a crisis, Katrina will be very focused in order to remain calm. Sometimes this might be obvious if she's ever internally freaking out (i.e. Tarantulas. She'll be wary and observant; perhaps she might seem to be on edge, especially when the spider approaches her in her direction. If it gets too much, she might grab an unneeded book and kill the spider, or use a towel to kill it and throw it away; regardless she'll shiver at the thought of being near it). Depending on how frightened she is, she'll most likely be fed up with herself, then, she'll force herself to go through with whatever situation she was placed in.

Easily Lovestruck / Hopeless Romantic / Expectant - Despite not being interested in having a relationship, Katrina falls in love fairly easily and can't exactly tell if it's love in a sense of family, friends, or an actual romantic love. Katrina is likely to think that she has a crush on all of her friends at least one time in their friendship. She has yet to actually confess to anyone except for a former orphanage volunteer, more so because she wants to make sure that she completely loves the person before deciding to try for it. Strangely she still ends up having high expectations for herself and others.

Overactive Imagination / Short Attention Span / (Sometimes) Talkative - Generally she follows rumors and ongoing gossip that goes on in the castle, fully knowing that it's not the truth, she tends to let her mind wander. On a regular basis she will be under the impression that rumors can be accurate at times and may overreact. This is shown more easily in RPs.

Background

Born as a tomboy, Katrina grew up in Milan, Italy. Attending her first year in primary school (preschool) as a three year old, she was a very outgoing kid who was always on the move (miraculously she never got in trouble despite her sassy, two-faced attitude when it came to certain situations). Katrina got along with many of the other children in her class, and she completely adored her mother. She was also fairly spoiled at the time and often times Katrina told exaggerated tales of her (mis)adventures with the neighborhood children, and much to her delight, her mother would laugh and smile at every single one. Her father was fairly busy, but sometimes he would try to take time off of work to spend time with his family. Her life was simple and carefree.

Katrina's parents then moved to Liverpool, England to see Katrina's Fraternal Grandparents, as Katrina couldn't spend enough time with her Maternal Grandparents as her parents hoped to. When Katrina was four years old, her mother was pregnant much to Katrina's delight at the idea of having a younger sibling. She became somewhat lonelier as time went on due to her mother eventually staying in the hospital and her hardworking father began to work more and more. On several occasions she would visit the hospital to see her mother. Her younger sister Naida was born after Katrina turned five years old, yet she lost her mother due to childbirth. At first, she loathed Naida for taking away her mother, yet with the help of her grandparents she eventually learns that Naida wasn't at fault.

Two years later, when she turned seven years old, she started an argument with her father about him never being home like the other children in the neighborhood. Ultimately, the outcome of that argument had caused Katrina's father to realize that he really hasn't been there for his daughters, due to the grief caused by losing his wife. A week later, he went out and bought presents for his daughters, an early birthday present for Naida and a late present for Katrina. However, he ended up in a car-related incident; whether it was an accident or not, he ended up in the hospital regardless. Few weeks later it was said that her father was dead, yet due to not seeing his face in the funeral, she likes to believe that he might still be alive; whether this is true or not is unknown.

The following year, she and her sister were sent to an orphanage built mainly for halfbloods (hidden in Kielder Forest which can be found in Northumberland), due to their grandparents being so close to death from old age (and for the fact that the orphanage owner was a friend of Katrina's parents). As Katrina lived her life in the orphanage, it was a peculiar experience for her; befriending many of the orphans and having them come in or leave made her realize the importance of relationships and the effect it can have on her. With the orphanage owner having a schedule for chores and things of the like, she quickly grew up to be independent. However, while she was attending a muggle school, her grades were the absolute worse for the simple reason of Katrina not being able to read English at the time (the orphanage owner took it upon herself to teach Katrina how to read English).

In the summer when she was eleven, she received a letter from Hogwarts. Due to this, Naida went out and bought a pink star necklace as her gift for Katrina (due to this being a special sort of occasion). Starting her first year at Hogwarts, Katrina befriended a lot of students in her year with as much ease as she could when she was younger. As time went on, she gradually managed to start speaking with the older students and was then able to hold a simple conversation. Before going to Hogwarts, a volunteer at the orphanage had gotten her interested in photography and even bought her a camera. So throughout her first year, she took pictures of many others as well as nature. One day, a picture of hers caught the eyes of a fangirl, a picture with someone whom the fangirl looked up to. At first, Katrina jokingly suggested a payment, yet this joke backfired on her as she ended up giving the picture to the fangirl who paid for said picture. This created a fantastic business idea despite the idea being based on taking photos of others and making a profit off of it.

Halfway through her second year at Hogwarts, Anastasiya Volkova had transferred to Hogwarts. Katrina and Anastasiya had instantly become friends without much problem. However, due to Katrina's small popularity, her friendship with some of her "friends" grew rather strained. They disliked the idea of Katrina befriending Anastasiya for various reasons (i.e. Anastasiya is the daughter of an infamous family known as the Cornetts, she was being snooty for ignoring a classmate who was waving at her, and there wasn't a single proof that she was actually blind). It was at that point that Katrina chose Anastasiya over her "friends," yet sadly that caused a few nasty rumors here and there, mostly directed to Anastasiya, but a few rumors had also lowered Katrina's popularity. Regardless, Katrina didn't mind as she still had the photography business going on with the help of a few other students.

The year when Katrina and Naida were both "adopted" by none other, Anne-Marie Cornett, as the documents would claim. Katrina was specifically picked out to watch over Anastasiya. However, with Anastasiya steadily drifting away and growing out of her shell more and more, Katrina steadily grew lonelier than before given the fact that she deemed Anastasiya as a 'friend' to her. To make matters worse, her sister decided to stop talking with her during the summer of 2020 before she began her third year at Hogwarts. Life became more stressful and/or odd for Katrina to handle. By the end of the year, Katrina had finally resolved to speak with her little sister, Naida. The end result of that conversation was, in no way, pleasant--Naida had disowned her own big sister. As a means to distract herself, Katrina's been focusing on crashing Anastasiya's wedding, and while it resulted in a success... it could only make her forget temporarily. Thankfully, she realizes that Naida will be starting her first year at Hogwarts when Katrina is a fifth year, thus, she won't be able to deal with this drama between the two sisters.

As her fourth year is now beginning, she's steadily grown fed up with herself for feeling depressed. Now, she's reached her decision: move on. While she has no intentions on trying to restore the relationship between her and her sister right this moment, she feels that the problem was the fact that she was trying to rush things far too much.

Katrina can be considered Polyromantic (an attraction to many in a romantic and not sexual way); however it's not too serious as she's had a four year crush on a childhood friend, a few month crush on Anastasiya, a few days crush on Alastair, Tedmund, and James, several month crush on Cass, and a few weeks crush on Kohaku at one point in time. There are others however that's besides the point; all in all she has no interest in pursuing a romantic relationship and is content with having a simple attraction.

She's multilingual (can speak more than two languages). Her main language was Italian, due to the fact that she lived in Italy; she can speak English very well but has a slight accent. She knows a tiny amount of Croatian. Katrina is trying hard to learn a bit of French from Ms. Cornett as well as Russian. In the meantime, she can speak English and Italian fluently, understand Croatian.

She treats everyone as a friend regardless of her 'crush' on them or not. Generally she sees it as a family love. As mentioned before she can't tell the difference.

When she was deciding on her extracurricular classes during her first year, an orphan as her orphanage told her that Muggle Studies showed blood and death which greatly horrified her.

She's used to cat-related puns due to her nickname.

On some occasions, she'll be skipping class despite the state of her grades and such.

Katrina is the type of person who catches a cold on a daily basis.

She somewhat idolizes Kohaku.

She knows how to perform CPR because of an older "sibling" at the orphanage.
